Concurring with the notorious participation of Fabelo in Expo Chicago (Sept. 27 - 30, with CernudaArte), the Sotheby's New York auction of Contemporary Art released this September 25 two works on silk signed by the artist, Reciprocidad and Mundo Rosa, both dated in 2005, which tripled in their hammer price the initial estimate. The very next day Phillips, auction house dedicated exclusively to contemporary and twentieth century’s art and design, sold an acrylic on fiber entitled Pajaro Lindo in three times its estimated price.
Also, in November Christie's New York made available to collectors, during the auction of Latin American art, five artworks by Fabelo. They all found a buyer, highlighting the lot 63 that closed the night auction on Tuesday 20, an oil on canvas of 2015 titled Mar Rojo that equaled the record for a piece with similar characteristics ($ 275,000.00).

December was another very intense month for Roberto Fabelo’s career. His work was once again the center of attention at CernudaArte’s booth in Art Miami during Art Basel Week. Art Basel Miami Beach and the fairs related are considered to create the most important moment of the year for contemporary art in South Florida. In Art Miami, Fabelo showed three large pieces, made in oil on canvas.
At the same time, but in Havana, a solo exhibition took place at Galería Orígenes of the Gran Teatro de La Habana "Alicia Alonso". One hundred drawings made between the 1970s and the present day were selected by the curators, Miriam Pérez and Luciano Méndez. The pieces belong to the collection of Luciano Méndez, Director of Banco Sabadell in Cuba, considered one of the most important collectors of Fabelo's work. Attended the opening the Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, the Historian of the City of Havana, Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, as well as the President of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, Arturo Valdés. The presentation was in charge of the President of the National Council of Visual Arts, Norma Rodríguez Derivet.
In a few days, hitting the North American market from the beginning of 2019, Fabelo will be present at ArtPalmBeach Contemporary Art Fair (January 10 - 14), once again with CernudaArte. Among the works that will be presented in this opportunity is the oil on canvas of large dimensions (more than 6 ft.) entitled Nido de Perros.
